Giveaway Winner! Pittsburgh Wellness Salon Verve 360

Last week, I did a post about Verve 360, a health and wellness spa and salon in Pittsburgh that encompasses 360 degrees of wellness. They are giving away a $25 gift card, so I asked you guys to let me know what you’d like to try at Verve, since they have so much to offer (yoga, manicures, facials, haircare, health education and so much more). I was happy to see a variety of things from the comments.

Me? I’d like to try Pilates there. Since I am an all yoga kind of girl, it would be interesting to change it up and try something new.

Thank you to all who entered! I put your names (and additional entries) into a spreadsheet, then into Random.org. According to the website, the winner is…

Congrats, Marisa! I agree with you on the nutritional counseling. Would love to have someone next to me at all times yelling, “Step away from the bag of chips!” :)   You can use your gift card towards whatever you’d like. Just email me your address (or DM it to me on Twitter), and Verve will put it in the mail for you.

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2012!

Giveaway! Pittsburgh Wellness Salon Verve 360

I’m a fan of health, wellness and beauty. That’s why when I was approached by a local wellness salon, I was intrigued to learn more about what that was exactly.
Verve 360 is a health and wellness spa and salon in Pittsburgh that encompasses 360 degrees of wellness. According to their website, they are leading a life-changing revolution by creating a model for complete and and total reinvention both inside and out. Their services include Pilates, yoga, massages, manicures, pedicures, waxing, facials, makeup and haircare. Not to mention, nutritional counseling,  health education, stress management and retail products. That’s a whole lot of good stuff. I like the fact that it’s a one-stop-shop. You can take in a yoga class and get your eyebrows waxed in one fail swoop. Verve 360 is located in downtown Pittsburgh on 142 Sixth Street. Also convenient to stop before or after work, or on your lunch break.
The folks at Verve are giving away a $25 gift card that can be used towards spa or salons services or classes! All you have to do is leave a comment below letting me know what you’d like to try at Verve. Want a bonus entry? Like them on Facebook and/or follow them on Twitter. Just let me know in your comment if you did, and I will give you an additional entry for each social network (so you can be entered up to 3 times). You have until next Tuesday, December 27 (at noon EST) to do so. On Wednesday, December 28 I will announce the winner in a follow up post. (I’ll choose a winner from Random.org.)

To watch a video to learn more about the salon and see it, just scan the QR code. Good luck!

A tale of two bags

Remember when I asked Santa for the Lululemon bon voyage duffel? Well, apparently Santa reads my blog because I didn’t get just one duffel for Christmas, I got TWO! I must have been a good girl last year. So, now I’m in a predicament. I don’t want to keep both because they are way too similar. I’m already a bona fide bag lady, so it would be overkill to keep both. Plus, I can return one and get other lulu swag with it like a nice sports bra or the gym essentials kit. So, which one do you like better? Both are perfect for the gym and traveling.

Sorry for the poor quality photo. To your left we have the bon voyage duffel in black, which I asked for, but to your right we have your fast in flight tote in violet, which matches the cute lulu tank I got with it. Here are their professional photos to give you a better look (couldn’t find the right color for the fast in flight, but you get the idea):

Survey says…

UPDATE: After many tweets going both ways, I’ve decided to keep both after all! I put stuff in both bags last night, and felt Fast in Flight was better for the gym since it’s smaller, and Bon Voyage was better for travel since it’s a bit bigger. They were gifts, after all, and who am I to refuse a gift? :)

What’s In Your Gym Bag?

I’m constantly packed. Whether it be for a weekend getaway, staying over at the boyfriend’s, or just for the work day, I always have a packed bag…or several. When I leave for work in the morning it literally looks like I’m going on a trip. That’s because I work an hour from home, so that means I have stuff in my purse and/or a work bag, a lunch bag and a gym bag. I often hit up the park to run, the yoga studio, or the gym most nights after work. Now that it’s cold and dark after work, that means the gym. I will work out some mornings and may even start 6:30 a.m. yoga. UGH, mornings. So, what do I pack for the gym?

Always in the bag:

  • Garmin
  • Hair ties
  • Bobby pins
  • Headband
  • Face wipes (Yes to Cucumbers)
  • Sports bra
  • Lock for locker
  • ipod
  • Sigg water bottle
  • If I start doing morning yoga, I’ll also have to pack shower stuff since there won’t be time to go home before work. Will be bringing my 3-in-1 body wash, shampoo, and conditioner for that. I have the Ulta Shower Smoothie.

Then, depending on the activity (running, yoga, boot camp class, spinning, etc.) I may have the following:

  • Running shoes
  • Flip flops or Uggs depending on the time of year (for post-yoga)
  • Yoga top
  • Yoga pants
  • Shorts, capris or pants
  • Running t-shirt or tank top
  • Sweatshirt in colder months (for post-gym or yoga)
  • Long pants in colder months (for post-gym)

What are some of my favorite brands to work out in? I love Victoria’s Secret and VS Pink yoga pants, and they usually have pretty good deals like 2/$50 and less during sales. I’m also a huge fan of anything Nike, especially Dri-Fit. For as much as I sweat, Nike’s socks, sports bras and shirts with this material is awesome. I also love their tempo shorts. You can usually get a good deal when looking online at sales codes, or at Dick’s during sale times and the Nike outlet. I love lululemon gear as well, but it is pricey. Their stuff is great quality, though and worth the spend.

I am in desperate need of an actual BAG, though. As you can see from the photo, I am using a VS Pink bag I got free with a purchase at least a year or two ago. I need something with zippers that can fit all my stuff. Here’s some bags I am scamming on:

Nike Varsity Girl Duffel Bag:

Lululemon Bon Voyage Duffel:

I really have my eye on the lulu bag, which could double as a work bag or carry-on bag as well. Maybe I will ask Santa since it’s $108. :)
